James Harden says he was ‘willing to take less’ to help 76ers add to roster

In an exclusive job interview with Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes, Philadelphia 76ers star guard James Harden says he took less revenue to support the Sixers build a championship contender this offseason.

In the job interview, Harden voiced his motivation to win a championship, introducing that he urged Sixers’ common manager Daryl Morey to improve the roster, and he would take whatsoever money was still left more than. 

“I had conversations with Daryl, and it was described how we could get improved and what the current market value was for specified players. I advised Daryl to strengthen the roster, signal who we needed to sign and give regardless of what is still left around,” Harden told Hynes. “This is how bad I want to acquire. I want to compete for a championship. That’s all that matters to me at this stage. I am prepared to consider fewer to put us in a placement to execute that.”

In late June, Harden declined his $47.3M participant selection for the 2022-23 period. On July 8, The Athletic’s Shams Charnia noted that Harden planned to choose a $15M pay out slice for this approaching time and indicator a two-year deal with the Sixers.

Harden averaged 21 details, 10.5 assists, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in excess of 21 frequent-time game titles with the Sixers. In 12 playoff video games, Harden posted 18.6 points, 8.6 helps, and 5.7 rebounds.
