Gavin Newsom blasts UCLA for Pac-12 to Big Ten move, vows UC regents action

California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday blasted the lack of transparency at the rear of UCLA’s move to the Significant Ten meeting and mentioned the University of California Board of Regents is “looking into it.”

“I have potent thoughts about this, for no other motive than as a member of the regents, we were being under no circumstances consulted, under no circumstances questioned for an impression, and they didn’t even have the decency to give (a) heads-up.”

In the July 21 agenda see about UCLA on the regents’ website, the following description was involved:

“Closed Session Statute Citation: Litigation [Education Code 92032(b)(5)]”

Part 92032 of the California education and learning code broadly refers to procedural issues.
