Chicco Briones, son of ex-PBA player, commits to play for UP

MANILA, Philippines — Chicco Briones Jr., son of former PBA participant Lowell Briones, has dedicated to play for the University of the Philippines.

UP basketball program director Bo Perasol and head coach Goldwin Monteverde welcomed the transferee from Carroll Faculty in Montana, who will be qualified to enjoy in the UAAP Period 86.

“We’re pretty fired up to have him and he’s gonna be a wonderful addition to the crew,” explained Monteverde in a virtual push convention on Thursday.

The 6-foot-6 guard, who averaged 2.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11.5 minutes across 19 online games for the Battling Saints, will have four a long time of eligibility, at the time he completes his residency.

Perasol shared it took four yrs to complete their recruitment of the Sierra Vista Large Faculty standout.

The younger Briones, who is also dreaming to play for the Philippine men’s basketball staff, hopes to follow the footsteps or even surpass his father, who was drafted No.5 by Purefoods in the 1997 PBA draft and played for Mobiline.

“I want to stick to in his footsteps or even do one thing better than he did,” he mentioned.
