Area Sports Briefs: Justus inducted into HOF – Salisbury Post

Longtime East Rowan wrestling coach Barry Justus was inducted into the North Carolina chapter of the Countrywide Wrestling Corridor of Fame in ceremonies held on Sunday in Chapel Hill.

Justus was elected as  section of the Course of 2020, but inductions ended up delayed  two many years by COVID.

At the time of his election, Justus was credited with 391 job wins,  5 convention championships, three 20-gain seasons and 6 Rowan County Event titles. Eight of his wrestlers wore point out winner ribbons, yet another 12 have been runners-up and  38 have been state put-winners.

Justus has been known not only for wrestling wins, but for his dedication, character and integrity.

Justus’ coaching tree includes West Rowan mentor Jonathan Brown  and previous North Rowan and Salisbury coach Tim Pittman.

“My legacy is all of my previous wrestlers who are out there coaching,”  Justus reported when his election was declared. “I’m just really appreciative and humbled about what everyone is undertaking and that I experienced some impact in their appreciate for the sport. I have received previous wrestlers coaching in all places, it looks. I go to a wrestling tournament and we’ll have an East Rowan reunion. That suggests a ton.”

  Justus will be enshrined at the Countrywide Wrestling Corridor of Fame & Museum in Stillwater, Okla.

Salisbury’s Marcus Prepare dinner was  the Subject MVP for the Central Carolina Meeting, even though Salisbury’s Todd Parker was voted CCC Coach of the Yr.

Salisbury’s Deuce Walker, Jaylyn Smith, Jamal Rule, Mike Geter, Damien Brandon. Robert Moulton, Sean Younger, Jayden Gibson and Andrew Huffman created All-CCC.

North Rowan’s Pharrell Hailey, Quintin Wilson, Jerome Blakeney, Kemon O’Kelly, Xavier Suber amd Amari McArthur designed the All-CCC group.

South Davidson’s William Lyons, a Catawba signee, was Distance MVP for the CCC.

HS boys tennis

Salisbury’s Will Koontz is the Central Carolina Convention Participant of the Year.

Salisbury’s Colin Donaldson, Grey Davis, Reid Hlavacek, Kevin Williams and Wyatt Goodnight produced All-CCC.

Salisbury’s Milt Griffith was runner-up for CCC Coach of the Calendar year guiding West Davidson’s Thompson Skeen.

HS ladies soccer

Salisbury’s Sutton Webb, Hannah Schmeltzer, Kyna Zaldivar, Sage Huffman, Izzy Banish, Sydney Hlavacek, Stella Koontz and Madelyne Lawrence built the All-CCC team.

Schmeltzer was named CCC Defensive Participant of the Yr. Webb was runner-up for CCC Offensive Participant of the Calendar year. West Davidson’s Allie Brown is the CCC Offensive Player of the Yr. West Davidson’s Chris Brown is the CCC Coach of the 12 months.

Salisbury’s Hank Webb, Aiden Mowery, Kaleb Burleyson and Cole Value have been named to the All-Central Carolina Meeting workforce, together with North Rowan’s Malakie Harris and Joseph Hartman.

College baseball

Bryson Bebber (South Rowan) has committed to St. Andrews University in Laurinburg to go on his baseball and educational occupation.
